Red Velvet Cupcakes Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Line a muffin pan with cupcake liners.

3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Set aside.

4. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the red food coloring and vanilla extract. Gradually add in the dry ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Beat until just combined.

5. Divide batter evenly among cupcake liners, filling each about 3/4 full. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cupcake comes out clean.

6. Allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
